Relationship-centered communication: Middle of a patient interaction

Want to make sure that your patients are feeling heard and valued during the course of your interaction, while being mindful of your pacing? Join this workshop to learn strategies that help you connect with patients during the middle of a patient interaction and have the opportunity to practice these strategies.

1. Demonstrate attentive and reflective listening skills.
2. Elicit a patient’s perspective while focusing on ideas, concerns, and expectations.
3. Effectively name a patient’s emotions.
4. Use the PEARLS approach to respond to a patient with empathy.
5. Effectively transition to a patient’s History of Present Illness (HPI).

The MetroHealth System is accredited by the Ohio State Medical Association to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations received in writing no less than 20 days before the course will be refunded, less a 20% administrative fee. No refunds will be made on cancellations received after that date. Please send cancellation requests to [email protected].
