Overview
In this workshop, learners will encounter an introduction to simulation, how it impacts medical education, and how it can support learning goals to benefit learners. We will review the three main components of leading a simulation: briefing learners, facilitation, and debriefing learners. Participants will also explore why debriefing is so crucial to a successful simulation. By the end of the workshop, learners will have the opportunity to practice briefing, facilitation, and debriefing towards more effective learning using simulation.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Delineate appropriate preparation / briefing for learners in simulation-based education.
  2. Identify positive behaviors of simulation scenario facilitation.
  3. Identify and demonstrate debriefing skills.
